When life gets overwhelming ..

When life gets tough — what part of your fitness, productivity & lifestyle do you give up first ?

Is it your nutrition? Workouts? Sleep ? Netflix time ? Or everything 😩. I’ve realized that I protect My Netflix 📺 time over everything. But on a real note, nutrition is the hardest to keep under check especially on a bad day.

⚡️ Food is and will always be comforting. You can be as determined as you want to, but when 💩 hits the fan — you will crave something delicious that invokes nostalgia of a happier past time to comfort you. Don’t run away from this. Get a small portion of your comfort food & let yourself feel the comfort by eating it slowly. No gains were made or lost by eating one comfort meal amidst weeks of consistency. Remember you fitness journey is a marathon, not a sprint!

⚡️ Most of the times, its the false safety nets that lead to our downfall. Get rid of takeout 🥡 delivery apps & junk food in the kitchen. Give up that support system so you can finally start building newer systems which help you sustain your fit lifestyle & provide the right kind of support that you were seeking.

⚡️ Find a relatable influencer. Consume content on social media that relates to your struggle directly & seek comfort from it. YouTube vlogs (video logs) are an excellent peek into someone’s life & empathizing with their problems will help you ease the heavy weight on your heart. In a world full of over-achievers, your struggle is not your own to bear.

⚡️ The gym could relieve you of the stress or worsen it. Call it a rest day & get some good quality rest. Cancel your whole to-do list & decide to just “chill”. One day of not chasing your goals will not make them any distant from you. But use this “chill card” only if nothing else works. The onus of making this a rare occasion rests on your conscious. If you feel this will derail you from your path (i feel that way most of the times) .. then pick one of the above options.

Life will “happen” more than you expect it to .. but your journey doesn’t end because of one single bad day. It ends because you never bounced back from the bad days.

Work harder on your best days ! Push limits and set higher standards when you feel your absolute 100% — this way, when “life gets to you” you will try to chase those limits out-beating your past self.

I typically go on a long distance run — 10–15 K on my “bad days” .. it soothes my mind like no other & I sleep like a baby afterward!
