I Just Want To Look Beautiful Like My Sister

Why do you want to be healthy?

I was talking to a new client yesterday, and it was shaping up to be just another evening.

She had this very easy and matter-of-fact air about her, so I naturally assumed she had thought this through, and knew exactly why she was getting into this fitness journey.

And she did.

Of course, her answer wasn’t one I was expecting.

When I ask most women, they say they’d like to start this journey to get healthier.

This is the answer that society expects of them, so it’s little more than reflex.

But here’s the truth: We’re constantly exposed to people who look so much better and happier than we do.

We see them being admired and loved by others, whether in person or online, while we realize all we’re doing is watching this in the background. Like just another nobody.

We feel low.

Inferior.

Not enough.

At that moment, we don’t care that all we see is just one experience, that the reality is probably more nuanced than that, or even care to wonder if this is something we should actually spend time caring about.

All we feel is this bubbling feeling of hurt, that demands that we do something about it, like it’s a matter of life and death.

For better or worse, this is what motivates many women to pursue a healthy lifestyle:

“If only I looked like her, I’d be happier.”

Trust me: it doesn’t work that way.

I know it’s tempting to imagine, but here’s the thing: You could look like your sister or even a supermodel — But if you’re still running after someone else’s version of success, you’ll never feel enough.

It’s okay to care about your looks as well as what others think about it, of course. We are social animals, after all, and whether we’re conscious of it or not, we do derive a significant dose of our self-esteem and confidence from the way others see us.

But perception isn’t everything, and it shouldn’t completely define how we see our worth.

Because this is kind of a double edged sword.

“Hey, I love your new hairdo!” could very well make your day

but

“You kinda look a bit bigger in that dress” could very well ruin it.

Caring too much is a problem.

Unlearning this mindset, and diverting this energy to caring for yourself and your health, could kill two birds with one stone.

Are you investing in your health for your long-term happiness?

Or are you doing it because you just want to feel better today?

At TNV Method, we realize that long days at work can leave very little time to invest in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our Transform programs offer extensive support with a team of a Clinical Dietitian, a Health Psychologist, as well as a Fitness Coach. By offering personalized meal and workout plans tailored to your goals and preferences, you will be able to strike a balance by investing nothing more than your willingness to start being there for yourself.

Your fitness journey should be about becoming the strongest and best version of YOU.

⇢ Your health.

⇢ Your goals.

⇢ Your happiness.

These are hard concepts to define by ourselves, but it is important that we have a measure of clarity before we start this journey.

Having an overwhelming urge to take care of yourself an your health like it’s a knee jerk reaction could end this experience just as quickly.

You want to run the marathon, not the sprint.

Do it for the right reasons, that you decide for yourself after thinking it through.

Having this idea can help you prioritize what you want to and don’t want to do in your day, and how much you’re willing to push yourself to get to that point.

What do you personally need to feel enough?

You don’t need to have this answer right away. You’ll realize this for yourself as you walk down this road.

But knowing that the energy that motivates you comes from the inside will make you feel alive.

The TNV Method offers tailored fitness coaching that fits your busy lifestyle, combining custom workouts, personalized nutrition plans, and supplement advice. Our program includes mindset coaching through expert videos and psychologist-led sessions. We track your progress meticulously, ensuring sustainable fat-loss and gradual, long-term results. With endless adjustments based on initial assessments, we guide you to a healthier lifestyle seamlessly integrated into your routine.
